The Mystery Of Myths
There are some traditional stories in any society, culture or demographic area that may be based on either real phenomenon or may consider the supernatural activities that has been happened or may happen in future. This supernatural phenomenon that is odd to normal human thinking and a person denies at its first glance without a religious or social influence is called a Myths (also known as fairy-tales or Urban Legends). So, here comes a point that if these are not real stories then from where do these stories come into existence.
Origin Of The Word Myth
The origin of the word Myth basically came from Greek Language meaning Story, and its history is described back to ancient world (also known as the dark age or stone age) where they used these stories to describe their gods and goddesses. The mythological stories may be exaggerated with time to time because the main theme may have been happened in reality but with the passage of time, people elaborate in their own different ways.
Some of the well known myths are:
- Sphinx of Giza
- Atlantis City
- Bermuda Triangle
- Resurrection of Egyptian Mummies
The myths are on a borderline as far as religions are concerned. As it is believed a faith in one religion but a myth in another. Like the Chinese believe in arrival of their lord. The Dragon as their savior and symbol of power but its considered as a myths in other religions.
Likewise the figure in Hinduism named Ganesh (having body of a human with head of an elephant) is considered to convert on the aftermath of Mahabharata. And is considered a mythical creature elsewhere. In Islam, the rise of Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) is considered to come in later days. Myth is found fictitious in other religions.
No matter how much similarities we gather, we always find diversities among different literature. Now we are going to describe some of the Worlds Well known Myths in this site.
